Frontend Staff Software Engineer, Platform
Role Overview
Frontend Staff Software Engineer, Platform will lead the creation of a Frontend Platform for Wellframe’s API first, cloud native microservices based architecture to power our industry-leading digital care management platform. They will work closely with other engineers, product managers and data scientists. Frontend Staff Software Engineer – Platform will report to a Director of Engineering. Success in this role will depend upon a consistent ability to reduce the complexity of projects, lead broad architectural frontend based work to unlock new capabilities for the business, and improve the productivity of the engineering team.

Areas of Responsibility:
• Architect and build a great frontend platform
• Build reusable widgets that are easily pluggable into a customer’s web dashboard
• Work on core frontend tooling, monitoring tools and infrastructure for setting a good foundation for frontend platform
• Identify common patterns and design frameworks to build reusable components
• Collaborate with the QA team to implement a frontend testing infrastructure and establish good automated testing practices
• Implement frameworks and processes to improve developer productivity and reduce pain points for frontend developers
• Optimize frontend performance by improving load times, efficiency and application speed
• Establish good security practices to prevent vulnerabilities and develop highly compliant frontend software
• Implement accessibility best practices to ensure the frontend components are usable by individuals with disabilities
• Build a set of best practices around frontend architecture and processes.
• Contribute to product roadmap
• Work closely with the product team to understand the business problems and help in scoping the user stories.
• Collaborate with designers to develop a consistent set of frontend components
• Collaborate with engineering managers and technical program managers to provide good project estimates for on time delivery of projects
• Lead projects end to end which include technical design, development, testing and on time delivery of projects and improvements with highest quality.
• Debug and fix our most challenging production issues by participating in on-call rotations to ensure our systems have exemplary uptime and reliability.
• Identify and lead process and technology improvement by developing a 6-12 month roadmap for implementing technical and process improvements.
• Work closely with software engineers and interns to guide their technical and career growth.
Education, Experience, & Skills Required:
• S. or M.S. degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or closely related field of study.
• Advanced working knowledge of Javascript ecosystem and Typescript
• Expertise in creating reusable widgets that can be deployed across multiple platforms is a must
• Expert in ReactJS and experienced with other JavaScript frameworks.
• Experience building micro frontends is a plus
• Significant experience building and optimizing reusable web component libraries with an excellent understanding of CSS
• At least 6 years full-stack web development experience.
• At least 6 years experience building SaaS or cloud-based commercial software products.
• Experience with backend frameworks such as Spring or Ruby on Rails with a microservices architecture is preferred.
• Proficient with a modern scripting language such as Python.
• Makes good trade-offs for core design and API decisions.
• Excellent communicator, comfortable explaining technical problems and plans in person and in writing to both a technical and a non technical audience.
• Values the difference between good code and correct code, and cares about effective testing.
• Demonstrable history of technical mentorship.
• Experience leading complex initiatives from technical design to delivery.
• Thrives on diverse technical challenges – our system integrates a wide variety of healthcare and other technologies.
• Passionate about leveraging their technical skills to help improve patient care.
• Works effectively in a fast-paced, agile startup environment, and finds fulfillment delivering innovative solutions.
